Overview

Vault: Block Volumes

Vault is being built as block storage that lives separately from your Pulse instances, so a volume can be attached, detached, resized or snapshotted without rebuilding compute. The plan is for redundant SSD storage, live resize, and copy-on-write snapshots. Specifications and limits are still being finalised before launch.

Built for

Database storage (MySQL, PostgreSQL) Media asset libraries Application data that outlives instances Development & testing environments

Highlights

Why Vault

These describe the design intent for Vault. Final behaviour will be confirmed at launch.

Redundant by design

Volumes are being designed with redundant storage and automatic handling of disk failures, so a single failed drive does not put your data at risk.

Resize without rebuilding

The aim is to let you grow a volume in place rather than provisioning a new one and copying data across.

Outlives the instance

Volumes will keep existing when an instance is destroyed, so you can detach data from one Pulse instance and reattach it to another.
